Frequently asked questions

WHAT IS COACHING?

Fundamentally, coaching is about helping you get:

Clear about who you are and what you want in life. You will also become aware of the opposite – ways of being and thinking that almost always lead you to feeling ‘less than perfect’, unhappy, anxious, angry or frustrated, including how you may self sabotage and get in your own way due to unconscious fears and limiting beliefs.

Confident in your authentic self, natural strengths and personal values. Over time, coaching will help you will experience major shifts in perspective or mindset – you may know these as ‘breakthroughs’ or ‘ah ha moments’. Each breakthrough can remove or replace a way of thinking or being that was limiting your potential for happiness (limiting thoughts, beliefs and behavior patterns) and open up new possibilities for you.

Consistent in effective decision making, trusting yourself and taking actionable steps towards your desires. Breakthroughs have the potential to unlock and reveal new possibilities you never considered before. Over time you will learn to make more constructive decisions (both big and small) by trusting that you are the expert in your life. This allows you to continually act on impulses more aligned with your desires, values and priorities.

WHAT AREAS OF MY LIFE CAN COACHING HELP WITH?

When you address one area of your life you will inevitably create a ripple effect (and positive change) in other areas. You are the expert in your life and I am the expert in the process of helping you achieve whatever you desire. Some fundamental areas that coaching can explore include:

  • Work-life balance

  • Family and interpersonal relationships

  • Romantic partnerships

  • Health and lifestyle

  • Procrastination, motivation and productivity

  • Career and business growth

  • Life purpose and direction

  • Perfectionism, self-criticism and limiting mindset

WHY DOES COACHING WORK?

Ultimately life coaching allows you to maximize your potential in any area. Research shows that coaching and training is a far more effective combination than training alone. Training alone can increase productivity by 22.4%, but when combined with weekly life coaching, productivity is boosted by 88%.

Coaching is successful because it will help you:

Identify current and potential obstacles. One of the main benefits of working with a life coach is the ability to gain an external, objective perspective on problems that you face. In addition to offering new insight into challenges, a life coach can help you to zero in on negative patterns that could be standing in the way of your success.

Solidify a plan of action. Coaching is a collaborative effort. Together you’ll create a custom blueprint that leverages your learning style and preferences to enable growth in a particular area. Coaching provides structure, support and a safe place to experiment, explore, gain awareness, and new insights.

Modify growth trajectory. Coaching evolves as you do! A coach will make strategic adjustments to your game plan as you continue to learn, grow and transform. There is accountability, encouragement and feedback. This foster’s a deep sense of confidence in your ability to be autonomous in achieving goals and living a purposeful, gratifying life.

What coaching isn’t

Life coaching is not a substitute for traditional therapeutic modalities. Unlike life coaches, therapists and other mental health professionals focus on healing, treating mental health conditions, and helping people work through trauma and other issues from their past. While working with a life coach may help you to deal with certain unresolved issues, life coaches cannot treat mood disorders, anxiety disorders, addiction, or any other mental health condition. Should you require additional support in one of more of these areas, you are strongly encouraged to reach out to a professional mental health care specialist.
